Non-CDL Hotshot Trucking Summary (F-350 Dually + 30' Gooseneck Trailer)
Non-CDL hotshot trucking is a fast-response freight service using a pickup truck and trailer setup that stays under the 26,000 lb GVWR limit, allowing the driver to operate without a Commercial Driver’s License. A Ford F-350 dually paired with a 30-foot gooseneck flatbed trailer is one of the most common and effective combinations in the industry.
This setup typically allows a legal payload capacity of 7,000–10,000 lbs, depending on the truck’s GVWR, trailer rating, and remaining combined weight. Hotshot drivers haul urgent, time-sensitive loads including machinery, construction materials, pallets, automotive parts, small equipment, farm goods, and general freight.
The F-350 dually provides strong pulling power, stability, braking capability, and reliability, while the 30-ft gooseneck offers excellent maneuverability and enough deck length for most partial and medium-sized loads. Non-CDL hotshotting is often used for short-to-mid-range deliveries, same-day loads, and regional freight where speed and flexibility matter more than full truckload capacity.
